Holidays in January That Celebrate Our Pets

There are many holidays throughout the year that celebrate pets. Listed here are the ones we currently know about. If you know of additional ones, please let us know in the comments section!

First of all, the whole month of January is "Walk Your Pet Month" so get out there and give your little angel(s) a walk.

January 2 - National Pet Travel Safety Day

This is a good day to set aside a little time to learn more about how to travel safely with your pet. Sometimes we think we know what we need to know, but it's always good to learn everything possible when it comes to the safety of your pet.

Learn more from the original safety folks at Red Cross.

January 14 - National Dress Up Your Pet Day

We find pictures of pets dressed up to be hilarious. Some pets, however, do not find this hilarious. So, take care, and don't dress them up if they're not a willing participant, but if you do dress them up - take lots of photos and post them here for everyone to share the hilarity!

January 22 - National Answer Your Cat's Question Day

Hmmm, this sounds a little fishy. After all, cats don't really ask questions, they just assume they know what they're talking about and do as they please...at least that's how it is in our house. Four cats and they all have very strong opinions as to how things should be done and at what speed the chore should occur. They're always willing to let us know, in no uncertain terms, if we're dishing out the food too slowly, or when the bowl is "empty," or when one of us accidentally has the nerve to close the bathroom door while we're in there. Yep, we've got a pushy bunch, but we love them all like crazy.

January 24 - Change an Animal's Life Day

It's not necessary to adopt an animal to change its life for the better. We're not saying that's a bad idea - if you can adopt, please do!

But sometimes, just feeding a stray or making a shelter box will allow an animal to survive the winter. If you're interested in making a simple winter shelter box, check out these instructions -

We're sure there are more of these, so give us a comment!
